Derek grew up in the New Orleans area. He started working in the industry during college. After college he decided to make a career of bartending. He spent a few years specializing in Latin American Spirits and Tiki at Tikki Tolteca and Felipe's. He was part of the opening team at the Catahoula. Now heading a more broad based cocktail program at The Mayhaw at St Roch Market. When he is not bartending he is spending time with his wife, daughter, and four pets.
